The Sunny Side

Summer is off to a great start! I forgot how fun it was to sit outside and play in the water with a little kid.  Mary finally likes getting wet and can hold attention long enough to make filling up a little pool or her baby bathtub with water worth it!

With all the fun in the sun – I worry about our fair skin (and would worry if we didn’t have fair skin as well). It’s important to take sun safety seriously.  The choices I make now can affect Mary for the rest of her life.

I’m a big fan of playing in the shade, putting on a hat (she actually likes it) and even sunglasses many times.  Of course, 30+ and even 50+ SPF sunscreen (for babies over 6 months old) is needed. I also limit our time in the sun and keep water on hand to make sure we’re all getting enough hydration. Avoiding being outside between 10am and 2pm is also important.  Happy summer!
