As a new mom, professional, wife and community volunteer living on limited sleep and coffee – focusing can be hard. However, when I get overwhelmed I also think about working strategically – where can I get the most out of my time.
Earlier this fall my “worlds” collided. It was a moment that you get perspective – what can I and should I be focusing on.
The Junior League of Dayton, an organization to which I’m proud to belong and spend a lot of time with, is working on a campaign to engage our members on why we joined the League – and what we believe it does for our community.
At the same time, Safe Kids USA and our local Safe Kids Greater Dayton coalition, was engaged in a we believe campaign regarding childhood injury.
Between these two groups and the work I do as at Dayton Children’s and most importantly, as a mommy, I started to think…truly…what do I believe? Where do I believe my time and talents are best spent? What can I focus on that meets all of the competing demands out there – while realizing a true impact. Do I have to segment my life into different categories or can all of my passions work in concert with one another?
I saved this blog post until now because I love the newness brought on by the holidays. It’s a time of year to learn from family and friends about priorities and then pledge in the new year to refocus your personal mission.
What is my personal mission statement? Check it out!
