Dear Dayton Children’s Community:
Hello! My name is Maureen and my son Colin has been receiving care at Dayton Children’s for the past ten years. I am here today to invite you to join me in something really special!
Kids are not just little adults, which is why it is so important that they receive care that is specialized just for them! As a mom, I know this first hand. My son Colin was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, at the age of five months. Going through chemotherapy at that age is so difficult to a growing baby – the need for specialized equipment and care is so important! To have that kind of specialized care, in our town – where my husband and I could still be with my other children and family was crucial. We are so grateful to have Dayton Children’s.
The journey from birth to adulthood spans 18 years, and as all parents know, this is a journey full of many ups and downs. Sometimes this experience includes a trip to the hospital for a broken bone or stitches. Other times it can lead to a diagnosis that can change everything. This is why it is so important that our community has a children’s hospital that is just for kids!
Just as there are 18 years of childhood, there are also 18 Ways Dayton Children’s is just right for our region’s kids. I invite you to learn more about each way at www.justrightforkids.org - a brand new interactive site recently launched.
One of my favorite parts about the site is the ability to share Colin’s story with others. Has your child experienced exceptional care at Dayton Children’s? Have you seen first-hand the passion and dedication Dayton Children’s staff has for children in our community? Were they able to make a difference in the life of your child?
Visit the site to join in the action! Share your story, and read the stories of others, illustrating how Dayton Children’s impacts our community each and every day!
Thank you for exploring the Just Right for Kids site! I look forward to reading YOUR stories and seeing why Dayton Children’s is just right for your kids!

Mother of Colin, Dayton Children’s Childhood Ambassador
