The baby’s size has been through all of the fruits and veggies in the five food groups – from a blueberry to corn cob to rutabaga – but now – I’m feel huge and am saying this week the baby is the size of a watermelon!
I know baby’s arrival is soon – and that is so exciting – but I’m just trying to make my way through each day staying comfortable and relaxed.
One area that has caused me some stress is the car! It’s hard to sit in the driver’s seat with a watermelon on my lap – add in the seat belt and think winter clothing and I’m struggling!
Now is an important time that I take care of myself – particularly in the car. Snowy and icy mornings make driving particularly dangerous this time of the year.
I’ve double checked to make sure I’m wearing my seat belt correctly in the car. Although slightly uncomfortable, my lap belt needs to fit under my (watermelon) belly and low on the hips. The shoulder belt should fall in the middle of my shoulder and off to the side of my stomach. I can also adjust the shoulder belt up or down in my car to make it fit better as well.
Other things to check – I move as far back as possible to not only fit the watermelon but to be further away from the airbag. I also make sure that my headrest hits my head right in the middle of the back of my head. I usually have to readjust all of these items after my husband drives the car. But of course – it’s worth it to keep everyone safe!
These rules should be followed for every adult in every seating position in the car – but right now it’s even more important because I’m protecting a very special watermelon!
